Joker ran his gloved hands through his hair as he stood up. He calmed himself down and stretched his arms, trying to release some stress.

He gave a last disappointed look at her, laying unconscious and bruised on the floor. "...big mistake..." He muttered and straightened his coat.

"It wasn't her fault your plan failed, Joker."

Batman. Great. Joker didn't bother to look around for him. He was hiding in the shadows somewhere.

"It was mine."

Joker bit his lip in annoyance. "Yeah, but unfortunatelyyyy, you're not my personal punching bag."

That made Batman mad. He always had a soft spot for Harl. Joker was knocked to the ground by Batman's swinging kick from above.

He laughed as Batman yanked him up and growled in his face. "Punching bags BREAK if you don't take care of them!"

"Oh, I know that, Bats, I know that." Joker grinned, still laughing. Batman twisted his arm behind his back, which only made him laugh louder. "Do-dontcha think its funny how you pop in here AFTER I knock her out? Huh? You just watched me beat her, didn't you? Without stepping in to help her?"

Batman pulled his arm further behind his back as an angry warning. Joker grimaced and growled out a last sentence. "So much for--for being a, a HERO!"

Batman gave a yank and spun him around, almost breaking his arm. Joker yelled out as he fell to the floor.

Police sirens flashed outside and a helicopter hovered closer. Batman glanced out the window, not expecting them to arrive so soon. His attention was brought back to Joker lying on the floor.

"I guess I couldn't blame ya... since you didn't see the whole fight... you only saw the last few minutes of it..." Joker sat up and felt his numb arm, acting like he wasn't in any danger at all. "You don't know what kind of injuries she has, so of course you make ME the priority."

Batman glared down at him, silent as always. He dint know if Joker was bluffing, or if he was telling him the dark truth.

"So you go ahead and turn me in! Go on, be selfish! If her injuries... that I know she has... don't KILL HER in the next hour... well I guess you did the honorable thing and kept Gotham safe from little old me." Joker shrugged, flexing his fingers to see if his arm wasn't damaged too much.

"Your tricks won't work on me." Batman grabbed the back of his shirt and yanked him up again, bringing his fist back for a punch.

Joker rolled his eyes. "And the ambulance's first aid kit won't work on her."

Batman wanted to punch him so badly! But what if... just what if... he was right and Harley was injured more than he knew. A million different wounds could kill her, internal bleeding, fractured spine, the list grew longer the more he thought about it.

He would feel so guilty if he had the chance to save her, and didn't take it. If he was so concentrated on Joker, and didn't see that she needed him. But Joker could still be bluffing.

He made up his mind as the police sirens grew louder and the helicopter's searchlight passed the window. He whipped out his bat-cuffs and clipped them around Joker's wrists.

Harley shifted and held her sore eyes closed. The pain came back along with her consciousness. She wasn't able to identify each sore spot on her body; it seemed as if everything hurt. She faintly let out a whining groan and shifted her body again.
She felt pressure around her waist, like something was wrapped around it. She realized it was a bandage. What the…hell!?

She sat up. The room was dark, only the city lights glowed softly in through a dirty window. She was still in the abandoned building, just in a different room. She felt a weird fabric under her, looking like it was almost made of rubber. Black rubber.
She let out a little cry of surprise as she recognized it and moved off of it. She winced as her body hurt from the movement.

"Harleen…" He was in the shadows, again.

"Dammit, that's NOT my name!!!" She tugged off the bandage around her waist and put her head in her hands, angry that he would dare call her that and help her.
He came out and kneeled in front of her, picking up the bandage.

"Get the hell away from me!!!" Harley pushed herself up against the wall and yelled at him. The pain increased and she closed her eyes and fought it.

"Why do put up with this, Harleen? What have you become?" he whispered, a hint of anger in his deep voice. She was just another poisoned soul, turned evil by Joker's words. Just like Harvey Dent.

She didn't answer him. She ignored him, ignored her sore body, ignored her aching heart.

"One day he's going to kill you."

"I KNOW!!! And I don't give a damn, alright!!!???" She yelled as tears started pouring out again. "I don't care! I don't care…" She sobbed as she clutched her throbbing sides.

"You don't care about yourself anymore. You think you're worthless, don't you?" He stared at her, conflicting emotions under his mask.

They didn't say anything else to each other for a few minutes, as she calmed herself down. The pain never left, her body ached more and more each second. She urged it to hurt more, she deserved it! She put Joker in danger and ruined his whole plan! She deserved every bit of pain she felt right now.

"Wh-where is he?" She whispered, fearing she already knew the answer.

"He's gone." Batman answered, not telling her that he was caught, but not lying to her and saying he was fine.

Harley saw through his words. Her whole body lost whatever fight it had left. She layed back down and stared at the blank wall. She felt hopeless and defeated. And worthless.

She let everything fall apart. She put Joker straight in jail. He would never trust her again.
